Job Description

The Data Intensive Social Science Center (DISSC) seeks two research assistants to support a recurring series of workshops on AI-assisted data analysis, beginning with an introductory workshop and followed by more advanced programs. Workshops range from foundational use of LLMs (e.g., Claude) for data analysis to advanced AI pair-programming techniques drawn from software development best practices.

Responsibilities: Setup instructions will be provided to participants via slides; RAs will assist individuals who need hands-on help with installation and configuration (languages, IDEs, credentials) and ensure all participants are set up and ready before each workshop begins. During workshops, RAs will troubleshoot issues, help participants navigate their tools, and answer basic questions about the materials.

Ability to follow detailed technical instructions and troubleshoot when steps don't work as expected.

Preferred Technical Skills: Experience with more than one of the above language/IDE combinations. Familiarity with environment variable configuration, package/dependency management, or command-line tools (e.g., Homebrew, pip, terminal basics).
