Job Description

I am seeking two motivated work-study students. One to assist with the development of the Fall 2026 course, Urban Adaptation to Climate Change. The other work on the digital presence of my research lab and course. The course preparation role is designed for a student with a keen interest in adaptation planning and policy who enjoys researching. The second position is an opportunity to think about lab branding and management, and for someone who has an interest in complex research into engaging presentation, visual, and digital formats. Lab contents relate to climate change migration, adaptation, and land governance.

Key Responsibilities

Lecture & Presentation Development: Collaborate on the design and production of slide presentations and lecture content. This involves synthesizing research into clear, visually compelling slides and sourcing relevant data visualizations or media.

Website Design & Maintenance: Assist in the development and content management of the research lab website. This includes organizing layouts, updating project descriptions for research in sites like Lagos and the Outer Banks, and sourcing visual media (no coding required).

Course Development: Research and update academic materials, bibliographies, and global case studies related to urban resilience and adaptation policy.

Media Sourcing: Identify and curate multimedia content—such as podcasts, documentaries, and policy briefs—to be featured on the lab website and integrated into lecture modules.

Job Requirements

Must have a valid Federal Work-Study award for the current academic year.
A strong interest in adaptation planning, environmental policy climate change migration, or governance.
(Position 2) Visual & Technical Skills: Proficiency in presentation software (e.g., PowerPoint, Keynote, or Canva) and an interest in website design/digital storytelling (experience with Squarespace or WordPress is a plus).

(Position 1) Teaching assistant experience or having taken a course on adaptation would be helpful but not required.

To apply, please submit a brief statement on your interest in climate change adaptation or migration and any experience you have with presentation or website design and your current resume.
