Job Description

We are seeking a student to contribute to projects at the intersection of critical care, digital health, and real-world data science. Two example projects include:  1) Phenotyping signatures of care delivery in the intensive care unit (ICU) using EHR data and build clinical decision support tools. 2) Phenotyping recovery in older ICU survivors using wearable and ecological momentary assessments.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

Python or R, EHR data/OMOP or similar schemas, longitudinal modeling, data visualization, and an interest in health outcomes and implementation science.

Job Requirements

Responsibilities may include building and validating algorithms/definitions, assessing portability across sites, and prototyping interpretable clinical decision support or audit-and-feedback tools. The student will help define and validate recovery phenotypes using multimodal longitudinal data, including wearable-derived physical activity metrics, life-space mobility measures, and ecological momentary assessments (symptoms, function, mood, fatigue). The student will also develop computable phenotypes that characterize ICU care delivery (e.g., ventilation practices, sedation and weaning processes, complications, care bundles) using structured EHR data. Work may include data cleaning and harmonization,  trajectory modeling/clustering, and visualization of recovery patterns over time.
