Position: Residential Life Manager Work Site: ?Yale University – New Haven, CT Contract Duration: Sunday June 14 (arrive by 10am) – Friday July 31, 2026 (leave after 3 pm) Compensation: $?9,600 stipend (plus free housing and meals since this is a residential position) Work Schedule: F?ull-time – The Residential Life Manager (RLM) is expected to work full-time on a shift rotation (including nights and weekends) established between the Associate Director of Residential Life (ARDL) and the RLM during in-person Orientation and are part of an overnight on-call rotation in case of high-level emergencies throughout the duration of the program. Students and early career professionals interested in exploring global education while immersed in an inclusive community are invited to join our Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS) summer team. YYGS is a summer academic enrichment residential program for outstanding high school students from around the world that is administered by Yale’s Office of International Affairs (OIA). In 2026, YYGS will host up to 650 high school students at a time in a series of three2-week sessions. Sessions will cover academic topics in STEM, social sciences, and cross-disciplinary areas. YYGS is a unique learning opportunity for both our participants and staff. Under the direct supervision of the Associate Director of Residential Life (ADRL), 1 RLM is hired; this individual will directly supervise 4 College Leads. The Residential Life Manager and their team are responsible for maintaining a safe and welcoming YYGS community, ensuring the safety and security of YYGS participants, and ensuring that the facilitating program operations in each of the respective college is happening. The RLM is responsible for maintaining a constant presence in residential colleges throughout the program to respond to and support staff/student needs and address them in a timely manner. Due to the nature of this program, the RLM may also be asked to help/fill in other duties as assigned to support the overall staffing needs. Duties and Responsibilities Lead Residential Life Team of two unique YYGS residential colleges, including Residential Life Leads, and their respective Residential Fellows (total 45). Empower staff to work independently and together. Support their needs, monitor their work ethics and quality of work, ensure their schedules are adequately/equitably staffed, and provide ongoing constructive feedback.
Hold conversations around accountability to ensure staff are successful in their roles. Ensure the college’s Program Office is well staffed, ensure all residential needs of participants are met (facilities and accommodation, etc.) and report any concerns.
Participants visit the Program Office for all their non-academic residential needs such as lost keys, roommate conflicts, maintenance issues, and participants sign in/out of game equipment. Assist with coordinating participant check-in/check-out procedures. Responsibilities include ensuring that all participants successfully arrive at the program (and reporting students who are not accounted for to the ADRL) and overseeing prox card, nametag, room key distribution. Check-out procedures include facilitating room inspections and managing the return of prox cards, and room keys.
Work collaboratively as a team to ensure that all 650 participants are accounted for in every academic class session (lecture, breakout sessions, capstone project groups, and seminars), residential activity, and all other scheduled events. Actively seek out participants who are unaccounted for these sessions.
Adhere to and implement strategies as set forth by ADRL for disciplinary action of YYGS participants and staff alike, including proper documentation of all interactions (disciplinary, academic, or interpersonal in nature).
