Job Description

The Graduate Alternative Formats Assistant will be responsible for the conversion of educational materials in into specified electronic formats. The Assistant will also be responsible for managing alternative format workflows within the Accommodate data management system. The Assistant will also be responsible for managing and updating the SAS website. Additionally, the Assistant will liaise with external vendors to request and obtain accessible versions of course materials, ensuring timely delivery to students.

This position will work with the Associate Director of Assistive Technology to convert course materials, such as textbooks and lecture slides, into different electronic formats. Graduate Alternative Formats Assistants will work with different database and file sharing systems to accurately track delivery of alternate materials. Assistants will be trained in different aspects of document accessibility and conversion technologies.


Job Requirements

Skills:

1.  Familiarity with or willingness to learn Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Pro DC editing features.

2.  Capable of effectively operating book cutting machinery and high-speed scanners.

3.  Familiarity with file sharing systems such as Google Drive and OneDrive.

6. Willingness to learn and evaluate new software, systems and accessibility tools.
