Job Description

The Peabody Museum is seeking individuals to welcome school group visitors into the Museum on field trips and help facilitate the needs of teachers and students during arrival, departure, and over the course of their visit. This role requires you to have at least 2 weekday mornings (9:30-11:30am) available to work each week. Additional shifts may also be available some weekends, depending on school group requests and reservations.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • greeting groups arriving on school buses
  • checking in group leaders
  • orienting students and chaperones to the museum
  • gathering lunches and storing them for groups
  • answering visitor-service oriented questions
  • providing exceptional visitor experience to those visiting from schools or other institutions
  • monitoring school group lunchroom
  • assisting with group departure
  • notify leadership of any updates or complications concerning visiting groups
  • may assist will other daily museum operations like stocking, wayfinding, visitor assistance, etc
Job Requirements

Required Skills:

  • a positive and confident attitude
  • loud speaking voice and strong communication skills 
  • interest in and comfort working with children
  • ability to work in busy/noisy environments while remaining calm and approachable
  • ability to coordinate large groups of people 
  • use of walkie-talkie/radio (training will be provided)
  • able to self-direct, prioritize, and problem solve
  • morning availability (9:30-11:30am at least two days per school week)
Compensation $15.75/hour
Job Level FY24: Level I
Hours 10.0 to 15.0 hours per week
