Job Description

Join the Yale Clinical Neuroscience NeuroAnalytics (YNN) research group, a highly interdisciplinary team to help develop sensors to monitor the brain. We are looking for undergraduate students for two research projects. First, to help design and characterize in-house sensors for monitoring brain tissue oxygen and a multimodal brain implantable probe we are developing for monitoring traumatic brain injury. Student investigators will be responsible for sensor testing and data visualization. Second, for students who are comfortable in a chemistry lab, would be able to safely and correctly measure and mix reagents and follow protocols carefully to help modify electrodes and transistors that will act as sensitive biosensors for metabolites such as glucose, lactate, glutamate and GABA. Knowledge and understanding of electrochemistry and/or biosensors is preferable but not required. Training will be provided for both projects. You will learn about analytical chemistry, sensor characterization, multimodal brain monitoring and surface modification and gain skills that will prepare you to excel in various research settings.

Job Requirements

The applicants for the work on the brain oxygen sensor and multimodal brain probe project must be able to use lab equipment and software to characterize sensor performance. The applicants for the work on biosensors must be comfortable in a chemistry lab and be able to safely and correctly measure and mix reagents and follow protocols carefully. The research tasks delegated to the student investigator will be matched to the skills and experience of the applicant.
