Job Description

Are you interested in and excited about forestry at The Forest School at YSE? Would you like reach out to classmates, professors, and Centers and Programs to get to know them and their work better? If so, join The Forest School in a paid student position to assist in producing written content for our social media channels.

Writing samples (ex: social media posts, blog posts) are required in the application. In your statement of interest, please address: why you are interested in this position; whether you are eligible for work study; previous experience and interest related to forest- and landscape-related issues, communications, and writing.

The Forest School at the Yale School of the Environment is dedicated to education, research, and leadership in forests and forestry. The School has over a dozen dedicated faculty and offers two master’s degree programs, the Master of Forestry (MF) and Master of Forest Science (MFS). The School also runs global programs in forest research, teaching, and outreach, and manages the nearly 11,000 acres of Yale Forests. The Forest School is home to six Centers & Programs, which engage in a range of professional, clinical, and research-based initiatives focused on forests and people.

Job Requirements
Assist in producing and scheduling content for The Forest School’s social media channels, YouTube, Instagram, & Twitter, and promoting The Forest School’s activities, including the School’s events, communications, and convening hub, the Yale Forest Forum.  
Demonstrated knowledge of issues related to forests, forestry, and people. 
Previous experience in communications, including strong writing skills and social media, preferred.  
Previous experience with photography, graphic design, and video editing a plus but not required. 
 
All students interested in forests, forestry, and communications. The associate will be working directly with TFS Assistant Director Sara Santiago.
Compensation $16.75/hour
Job Level FY24: Level III
