Job Description

We are seeking a Yale undergraduate to support Public Programs in the Education Department of the Yale University Art Gallery. This position will primarily help produce forms of digital engagement, including promotional videos and E-Gallery Talks, an ongoing series of short, focused videos in which artists, staff, and students respond to the Yale University Art Gallery’s collection and initiatives.The candidate must have experience with video editing on iMovie or a similar software program. This position will perform office duties, including updating Excel-based schedules, and scheduling software programs, museum databases, and calendars. This candidate will also have the opportunity to help research, write about, organize, and evaluate Gallery programs, such as talks, readings, music, film screenings, performances, studio programs, and lectures, they will be asked to hang posters around campus and the community, and they will be expected to attend programs and help welcome audience members and facilitate reflection. Works closely with the Curator of Programs, Program Fellow, and Program Coordinator as well as Gallery Staff.

 

Job Requirements

In addition to video editing skills, must have familiarity with PCs and Microsoft Office, excellent research, writing, and organizational skills, and interest in art, public programs, audience engagement, museum education, and the Yale and New Haven communities. Must have familiarity with databases, spreadsheets, and sharp attention to detail. The work is in person and entails movement through an open office space, the galleries, and the campus and community. Must be dependable and timely. Candidate should be available five to ten hours per week, ideally with some availability during our regularly occurring programs, often on Wednesdays from 12 pm to 2 pm and Thursdays from 5 pm to 7 pm. Some evening and weekend work. **All candidates applying for jobs at the Art Gallery will be subject to pre-employment screening. Compensation $17.00/hour
