Job Description

In 2023, Yale’s Institute for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage (IPCH) launched its first international initiative – the Yale Directors Forum – a global fellowship program for leaders of museums and cultural institutions focused on the Africa region. As part of its international engagement, IPCH will host a 3-day program on Yale campus in April 2025 to broaden public understanding of Africa’s cultural landscape and facilitate exchange between a diverse group of African thought leaders and the Yale community. IPCH will engage one intern to assist with event marketing and stakeholder engagement. 

The intern will be responsible for assisting with a range of tasks related to event preparation, stakeholder coordination, marketing, and outreach efforts. Specific responsibilities include:

Marketing and Communications:

{c·         Development of pre-event materials, such as posters, promotional videos for social media, etc.

{c·         Establish a database of relevant Yale contacts.

{c·         Promote events to relevant Yale student groups, staff, departments, and the New Hew Haven community.

{c·         Capture high-quality photographs and videos during events and create daily social media posts.

{c·         Produce a 3-minute video promotional video highlighting the entire week of events. 

{c·         Creation of post-event materials, including photos, attendee list, and evaluation forms.

{c·          Track event attendance and engagement metrics to assess the success of outreach efforts.

{c·         Assist with other tasks as necessary to support the success of the program.

Key Deliverables:

{c·         Weekly meetings to review progress on assigned tasks and upcoming milestones.

{c·         Promotional event materials including posters, a brochure, and social media posts.

{c·         Post-event material including photos, list of attendees, and summary of feedback surveys.

{c·         Social media content: a 3-minute promotional video, 3 short videos to be shared at the end of each day of the public program, and engagement metrics.

 

Work Schedule:

·         The internship will take place over two months and will be supervised by Michaellah Bombata, Program Manager of International Programs at Yale IPCH.

·         The intern is expected to work 2 - 4 hours per week based on the requirements.

·         The intern is expected to attend an initial in-person meeting for an overview of IPCH but will otherwise work remotely.

·          The intern is expected to attend all public events during the 3-day program. (April 1st -3rd from 3-5pm.)  

 

 

 

 

Job Requirements

·         Passion/strong interest in arts, culture, heritage, history, and/or African studies

·         Experience in graphic design, Canva, or other marketing tools

·         Experience in communications and social media management

·         Ability to take high-quality photos and videos

·         Ability to edit photos and videos using Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premier, or other editing tools.
